Federal Programs Focus Group

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Federal Programs Focus Group (FPFG) is a cohort of interested school partners who convene bi-monthly. The participants learn about and provide feedback to strengthen the programs that benefit Title I Schools supported with Title I, II, III or IV funds.

The LAUSD FPFG comprises representatives from United Teacher Los Angeles (UTLA), California School Employees Association (CSEA), Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and Associated Administrators of Los Angeles (AALA) as well as private school representatives and parents/caregivers of students at Title I schools.

While there is no mandate that requires an ongoing focus group of this nature, the District wants to ensure that various parties (including partner organizations, LAUSD District staff, and LAUSD families) can learn about federally funded District programs that benefit our Title I schools, as outlined in the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) Federal Addendum. This Focus Group is part of the District’s continuous consultation related to the LCAP Federal Addendum such that we listen to our partners’ voices. During each meeting, participants have the opportunity to provide input/feedback to presenters on how they can strengthen their programs to increase student academic achievement.
