We are committed to providing educators with the tools and knowledge to deliver effective and equitable instruction. Our professional development programs cover a range of critical areas, including supporting Standard English Learners and English Learners, implementing research-based math and literacy practices, fostering social-emotional learning, leveraging instructional technology, promoting equitable grading and scheduling, and developing culturally responsive teaching.

Title I Access Equity Acceleration
Access Equity Acceleration
Administrators and support staff provide professional development to selected Title I elementary and secondary schools. These professional developments focus on strategies to support mainstream English Language Development for Standard English Learners (SEL) and preparing minority/underrepresented students to become competitively eligible for college admission. 
Title I AVID Excel (Middle School) Advanced Learning Options Implementation of the AVID Excel program to support Long-Term English Learners LTELs at select school sites.
Title I Tutoring Services Coordinators Division of Instruction Coordinators are instrumental in implementing high quality high dose tutoring for our neediest Title I Targeted schools.
Title I Linked Learning Secondary Instruction Positions that will provide professional development in the form of coaching/advising to targeted Title I sites to support onboarding new Linked Learning and CTE schools, implementation of systems to support Linked Learning and CTE pathways, and to provide instructional support for CTE teachers.
Title IV Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) Division of Instruction Professional development to build elementary teacher and school leader capacity to implement Cognitively Guided Instruction, which is a framework and set of instructional strategies to build student’s conceptual math skills.
Title IV College Counseling Division of Instruction Provides training for school staff to build capacity to support post-secondary planning.
Title II Elementary ELA  Division of Instruction Professional development leadership cadre focused on elementary writing, which will connect the Science of Reading (Orton-Gillingham) to the Science of Writing.
Professional development to build capacity of new elementary teachers to effectively implement the curriculum, and additional opportunities to build teacher capacity to implement Orton-Gillingham approach to reading and other research and evidence-based practices.
Title II Equitable Grading and Instruction Division of Instruction Funding pays for positions located centrally to design and deliver professional development to build school staff capacity to implement Equitable Grading and Instruction. Funding also supports professional development costs for teachers and other school leaders to build capacity in implementing Equitable Grading and Instruction.
Title IV Equitable Scheduling Division of Instruction Provide secondary schools access to a rich data set and professional development that support implementation and monitoring of equitable scheduling practices to ensure more access to advanced courses, and to better align student-desired courses to the master schedule.

Central and/or regional positions to design and deliver professional development to support effective implementation of various content areas and related pedagogical approaches or effective practices to support student achievement. This includes Elementary and Secondary Math and English Language Arts, and Ethnic Studies. 
Title I & II Educational Transformation Office Professional Development Support Educational Transformation Office Central positions to design and deliver professional development to support implementation of effective practices to support student achievement and to oversee and monitor interventionists assigned to support schools. Central positions to design and deliver professional development to support implementation of effective STEAM instruction. Centrally deployed positions to provide intervention at target school sites and build capacity at those schools to provide effective intervention.
Title IV Health Education Division of Instruction Professional development and materials to support effective implementation of health instruction for TK-12.
Title IV Healthy Relationships Student Health and Human Services Position to create resources and activities that support schools in building students’ capacity to develop and maintain healthy relationships.
Title IV Instructional Technology Initiative Division of Instruction Provides professional learning opportunities and related materials to support implementation of instructional frameworks that leverage technology in purposeful, personalized ways, such as the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards, Computer Science, Digital Citizenship and emerging technologies.
Title III Master Plan Instructional Institute Multilingual Multicultural Education Department Training for EB Designees, SEL/Newcomer/ Multilingual Multicultural Academic Language/ Parent/ Title III Coaches, to provide training on best practices for monitoring and supporting EB and multilingual students.
Title I LTEL/SPED PD Multilingual Multicultural Education Department Professional development to support instruction and progress monitoring for Long-Term English Learners (LTELs) with disabilities. The professional development supports teachers of LTEL Students With Disabilities with instructional strategies/approaches for their academic/linguistic progress and reclassification benchmarks.
Title IV Secondary Math Division of Instruction Provide professional development to secondary math teachers to ensure effective instruction in 4th year math courses to support post-secondary readiness. Additionally, provide professional development to middle school teachers and school leaders to effectively implement Illustrative Math curriculum, including teacher leader participation in the design and facilitation of some of the sessions.
Title IV Social Emotional Learning Division of Instruction Provide professional development and planning time for school staff to implement effective social-emotional learning instruction. Additionally, teachers will have access to instructional materials via licenses. For example, Second Step is an evidence-based social-emotional learning program with explicit lessons on social-emotional development for K-8.
Title IV Mental Health and Anti-Bullying related to LGBTQ+ Student Health and Human Services Positions, materials and capacity-building to increase resources and supports for LGBTQ+ students and families, including promoting welcoming and affirming school environments.
Title IV PASCAL Gifted and Talented Education Professional development and materials to build teacher and other school leaders’ capacity to effectively identify and support students as gifted in the Creativity and/or Leadership categories.
Title IV Physical Education Division of Instruction Professional development, and materials to build teacher and other school leaders’ capacity to effectively implement physical education instruction to promote an active and healthy lifestyle.
Title IV School Counseling Division of Instruction Provide professional development and develop resources for school counselors to provide effective academic counseling.
Title II & IV Schoology Information Technology Services
(Title II): Positions design and deliver professional development to support teachers in maximizing the use of Schoology to personalize instruction.

(Title IV): Supports facilitation of salary point courses for teachers to participate in professional development focused on maximizing the use of Schoology to personalized instruction.
Title IV Elementary Science Division of Instruction Professional Development to support effective elementary science instruction, including opportunities for teacher leaders to engage in designing resources and professional development sessions.
Title II Secondary Science Division of Instruction Supports professional development for secondary science teachers in implementing effective instruction across a variety of middle and high school science courses.
Title IV STEAM Division of Instruction Funding to support participation of teacher leaders in designing and facilitating professional development for STEAM and related materials.
Title II District Intern Program Human Resources The District Intern program is a fully accredited CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC), tuition-free teacher preparation program for all interns/candidates. 
Title II Micro-credentialing Program Human Resources The Micro-Credentialing Programs provide an opportunity for all educators to cultivate expertise in identified areas and to be recognized for their accomplishments in driving student learning. Educators who successfully complete a Micro-Credentialing Program will receive a sharable digital badge in recognition of their accomplishment and expertise.
Title II Educator Development and Support Human Resources Educator Development and Support is the District’s evaluation processes, which support the development of high-quality teaching, counseling, and leadership practices grounded in the District’s various Frameworks (Teaching and Learning, School Counseling, School Leadership, Principal Supervisor, and School Support Administrator Frameworks).
Title II Los Angeles Administrative Services Credential (LAASC) Program Human Resources This two-year program supports new administrators in their professional learning and leadership development leading to a Clear Administrative Services Credential.
Title II Los Angeles Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (LAPASC) Program  Human Resources This program creates a pipeline of school leaders through a practitioner-based, equity-driven preparation program. The Program offers a comprehensive administrative preparation experience aligned to the required California Administrator Performance Expectations (CAPE), the Los Angeles Unified School Leadership Framework (SLF), and the California Professional Standards for Education Leaders (CPSEL).
Title II Aspiring Principal and Assistant Principal Program Human Resources The Aspiring Administrator Programs are the District’s promotional pathway for assistant principal and principal positions. This professional development program is aligned to the Los Angeles Unified School Leadership Framework (SLF) and the Los Angeles Unified 2022-2026 Strategic Plan in the areas of data driven instructional and operational leadership. 
Title II Bilingual Differential Human Resources Differentials for teachers working in approved bilingual/dual-language programs who hold the appropriate credential and bilingual authorization are eligible to receive up to $5,400 per year in additional compensation to recognize the additional preparation and duties inherent in these programs. This incentive allows the District to effectively recruit and retain bilingual educators for our ever-expanding bilingual/dual-language programs.
Title II Teacher Recruitment Human Resources Funds allocated for teacher recruitment permit District staff to travel to universities within the local area, throughout the State of California, and across the nation in search of the best teachers and support service providers to serve our students and families. District staff attend job fairs, conferences, and recruitment events and place advertisements to highlight the employment opportunities within the District in order to attract a diverse group of well-qualified candidates.
